In a major stride towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing, Ordnance Equipment Factory (OEF), Hazratpur, has officially received the Transfer of Technology (ToT) for the Su-30 Brake Parachute system from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The technology was formally handed over to Shri Amit Singh, General Manager, OEF Hazratpur, by Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri (Minister of State for Defence) Shri Sanjay Seth at Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru.  

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), DRDO, and the Indian Air Force (IAF), acknowledging OEF Hazratpur’s expertise in developing technical parachutes for military applications. The Su-30 Brake Parachute, a vital component ensuring the safe deceleration of the aircraft during landing, represents a key milestone in India's indigenization of advanced defence equipment.  

A New Era in Indigenous Defence Production

As a leader in manufacturing specialized textile-based defence solutions, OEF Hazratpur has played a crucial role in producing aerial delivery systems and brake parachutes. The collaboration with DRDO on technical parachutes has further solidified its reputation as a pivotal contributor to India’s defence supply chain.  

During the event, Hon’ble MoS Defence Shri Sanjay Seth highlighted the significance of this achievement in strengthening India’s self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He commended OEF Hazratpur’s commitment to delivering world-class defence products that meet the stringent operational requirements of the IAF.  

Expressing his gratitude, Shri Amit Singh, General Manager, OEF Hazratpur, acknowledged the support of MoD and DRDO in this technological advancement. He reaffirmed the factory’s dedication to bolstering indigenous defence manufacturing and ensuring India’s strategic preparedness.

The acquisition of this critical technology marks another step in reducing India’s dependence on foreign suppliers while reinforcing the domestic defence production ecosystem. By leveraging advanced technologies and manufacturing capabilities, OEF Hazratpur is set to enhance the operational efficiency of the armed forces.
